  1. Preparing for Consecration Sunday Preparing for 2007 CRC

  2. Previous Two Sundays We considered that our giving is about bringing our gifts to the Lord. The Israelites did it in obedience to God’s command - it was a mark of being God’s people. Today, God is looking for us to choose to bring our gifts - out of gratitude for what He has done for us. We have the privilege of participating in Kingdom work.

  3. Previous Two Sundays The first Sunday we asked everyone to do a Review of what you have brought to our church - your gifts of time, talents, hospitality and finances. (Past) Last Sunday we asked you to Reflect on the changes in your lives and consider how Faithful God is - despite the ups and downs of life. (Past & Present)

  4. Recommit Your Gifts Based on your Review and your Reflection, this Sunday we ask you to think future - to Recommit your gifts that you plan to bring for the Kingdom ministry of our church. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2Cor. 9:7

  5. Recommit Your Gifts Please take time with your spouse (if you have one) and have a discussion focused on committing your time, talents, homes, business, farm and finances for the work of your church.

  6. Recommit Your Gifts Pray about it and then make a promise (a covenant) to the Lord - that with His help - you will keep. Please go one step further - wRite-it-down. In your mailboxes today, we have provided a card which we ask you to complete and bring next Sunday.

  7. Recommit Your Gifts Why wRite-it-down and bring it? • It helps us to remember (both spouses) • It makes us more committed to carrying out what we have promised • It facilitates my participation in a special offering, next Sunday, of the gifts we bring. We’ll Consecrate them to the Lord in a special prayer of Consecration.

  8. Why Consecration? The Apostle James taught us that we ought not to be so bold as to think that we can do anything on our own. “Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.’” James 4:15 In our prayer of Consecration, we ask the Lord to bless our giving plans - our commitments - for it is He who enables us!
