What is the Syn Bio? Synthetic biology is the design and construction of biological devices and systems for useful purposes. It is an area of biologicalresearch and technology that combines biologyand engineering, thus often overlapping with bioengineering and biomedical engineering.
iGEM Nedir • iGEM is an organization which projects compete includes both synbio ang genetical engineering area. • iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machines) competition is organizing by MIT.
METU, Turgut Özal University and Bilkent University represent Turkey since 2005 to today.
Project Examples Photo taker bacteria; In 2004, Austin team has made a bacteria which can copy the image or scene in their living area.
Project Examples Light giver bacteria; In 2010,Cambridge University managed to transform the gene in lightgene which provides the light into the bacteria. They also produced their bacteria and used for specific purposes..
Project Examples Gas provider bakteria, In 2011, Washington University offer an alternatice solution to fuel problem with making a biodiesel provider bacteria. Team also got a grand prize with their project.
iGEM is not limites with only scientific projects, we are also competing in those areas: 1. The Best Gene 2. The Best Presentation 3. The Best Human Practices 4. The Best Measurement 5. The Best Modelling 6. The Best Software 7. The Best New Procedure 8. The Best Wiki
