  3. Legends are……….. Folk stories about real or imaginary people. Based in some fact but much is embellished.

  4. About Legends... It’s hard to tell where the facts stop and the imagination takes over. They come to us by word of mouth.

  5. As the story is repeated, it may be elaborated until it becomes a .............

  7. Beyond a legend • Each country has its own folk heroes who exemplify the character traits its people value. • These stories are a combination of history, myth and fact. • In America, we call these stories……..`

  8. TALL TALES

  9. American TallTales Consist of folk heroes who exemplify the character traits that its people value. Davy Crockett, Johnny Appleseed, and Daniel Boone were real people but their stories made them larger than life.

  10. AmericanTall Tales Pecos Bill, Paul Bunyan, and Mike Fink were mythical men but their feats of brawn and muscle were required to help develop America.
