  2. Problem • Joe has 60 pieces of gum. He wants to share it with his 5 friends how many pieces of gum will each friend get.

  3. The Equation • Y= .25(x) • Y = total amount of gum. • X = number of friends

  4. independent variable = x number of friends • Dependent variable = y number of gum. • So the amount of gum depends on the number of friends

  6. Domain and Range Domain is the x values= my domain is 1,2,3,4,5 Range is the y values =my range is .25,.50,.75,1.00,1.25

  7. Function or not • In my problem my x’s don’t repeat.

  8. Continuous or discrete • Well it’s discrete because it gives pin points. • And it would not be fair to give people a half a piece of gum.

  10. Sssssssssssooooooooooo……… • It would cost 1.25 and each friend would get 5 pieces of gum.
