  1. WORLAND YOUTH BASEBALL COACHES, PARENTS, & UMPIRE MEETING 2014

  2. Philosophy & Goals • We are an instructional league, with an emphasis on teaching baseball fundamentals, good sportsmanship and teamwork.  We encourage all players to do their best, improve their skills, and be good teammates.  We seek coaches who will help players develop a positive attitude about the game, their teammates and opponents, coaches and umpires.  We invite parents to be a part of the Worland Baseball community by coaching, sponsoring a team, or just helping out at practices or games.  Worland Baseball is a wonderful opportunity to "give back" to your community while enjoying time with your child.

  3. Philosophy & Goals (cont.) • Ensuring every child is afforded the opportunity to play. • Provide a safe, fun, competitive, educational, and affordable baseball experience for the youth in our community • Fostering a sense of community. • Promoting self-esteem and self-confidence through the excellent avenue of youth sports. • Ensuring players, coaches, umpires, and volunteers adhere to the values of Respect & Integrity. • We understand that one can get caught up in the competition aspect of the sport. But, the first law of sports participation is that it is supposed to be a fun and rewarding learning experience. We want our children to get the most from their Baseball.

  6. Cal Ripken Baseball – Ages 4-12 • Keeping baseball fun—especially in the early stages of youth baseball—is a primary concern of Babe Ruth League’s Cal Ripken Division, which is comprised of the following levels: • Tee-Ball: Ballplayers ages 4-6 learn hitting and fielding fundamentals in a supportive team environment. Young athletes hit the ball from batting tee which is height-adjusted for a level swing, batting in order through the line-up for the entire game. • Rookie/Coach Pitch: Designed primarily for ballplayers ages 7-8, this division makes use of a pitching machine or coaches to allow for more hittable balls at the plate and more action in the field. • Minor: Recommended for ballplayers ages 9-10. Players build and refine their fundamental skills while beginning to understand game strategy and teamwork. In most regions, participants first experience post-season tournament competition in this level. • Majors: Currently the most popular level offered, this division is recommended for ballplayers ages 11-12. Features 46’ pitching distance and 60’ base paths.

  7. Ages 4-12 – Common Rules • All coaches will conduct themselves as role models and use positive coaching techniques. • All players will be in the dugouts.
