Introduction • MDE and AdvancED Partnership • Collaboration between the Office of School Improvement (OSI), the Office of Educational Assessment and Accountability (OEAA), and AdvancED to provide online resources for the Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA), EdYES! Report, and School Improvement Plan (SIP) • Avoid duplication of effort for Michigan schools/districts to meet their school improvement and accreditation requirements

Report every year except when the Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) is submitted • NCA CASI Schools • Submit the Self Assessment (SA) every year except when the Standards Assessment Report (SAR) is submitted

AdvancED Standards for Quality Schools Standards comprehensive statement of quality practices and conditions Indicators operational definitions or descriptions of practices and processes Impact Statements characteristics, processes, and actions that would be observable and verifiable in a school that effectively implements the standard 9

AdvancED Standards Standards are the foundation of the accreditation process Standards and indicators are inter-related and form a collective whole (systemic connectedness) Standards and indicators are aligned with and supported by research Standards and indicators address factors that directly contribute to student learning and variables schools can impact Standards cross state, regional and national boundaries

Standards Assessment Report Submitted on-line 6 months to 6 weeks prior to QAR visit Schools were notified over the summer that they would be hosting a QAR and thus be required to submit the SAR in 2007-08 Available in Portable Document Format (pdf) to QAR chair and team Review before the visit Use to gather evidence and verify the school’s adherence to the standards during the visit Instructions for completing and submitting online E-Learning on Professional Development Tab Menu Includes Identification and Submission of a Peer-to-Peer Practice 11

  12. Steps for Submitting the Self Assessment Online • Schools will receive instructions letter including “Access Code” 2. Individuals will register on AdvancED website and enter Access Code in Personal Profile • Schools will enter and submit the Self Assessment

Submitting the Self Assessment Online • Log in or register on the AdvancED website • Go to www.advanc-ed.org • If already registered, select Login link and update Personal Profile with Access Code • If not registered, • Select “Not registered yet” link • Complete Personal Profile • Enter Access Code for educational institution in order to manage school improvement information

  17. Submitting the Self Assessment Online Enter the Access Code assigned to you in order to manage your institution’s school improvement information

  19. Submitting the Self Assessment Online You can Begin, Continue, or Reopen the Self Assessment

  20. Submitting the Self Assessment Online As you progress through the sections of the self assessment, a checkmark next to each section indicates that a section has been completed Incomplete sections are clearly indicated

  21. Submitting the Self Assessment Online Responses to indicators are required for each of the standards. Evidence should be taken into account when responding to indicators.

  22. Submitting the Self Assessment Online After submitting the Self Assessment, you may view a PDF version and reopen the report during your reporting window
