    11. Beneficios particulares del acuerdo You receive the benefits of Software Assurance when you purchase the latest Microsoft technology through an Enterprise Agreement. These benefits include: Alignment of benefits to the five phases of software management Timely activation of benefits Customer satisfaction with the benefits The Enterprise Agreement is one of the best ways for you to purchase Microsoft technology, and the Software Assurance benefits included in Enterprise Agreement help you get even more out of your software investment. But there are also new offerings that will be available with the Enterprise Agreement, including the 2007 products. After many conversations with you and IT analysts, Microsoft identified five phases for how you approach software management. Obviously, you may have different needs at each phase of the software life cycle from another customer. However these five phases show you—at a high level—how both new and existing benefits map to the software life cycle. Phase 1—Plan: Your company is planning how to control and manage its IT costs and possibly align its IT investment with the latest products being released by Microsoft. New Version Rights gives you access to the latest versions of Microsoft software during your agreement, so you can stay current. In addition, to help you with software budget planning, Software Assurance offers you the option to spread the payment of the licenses over the term of the agreement as an extended value-add option. Phase 2—Deploy: Business value is realized when you deploy and use the technology you invest in, which is why we are making a significant investment to provide both small and large customers with packaged services delivered by partners to help plan desktop PC software strategies for deployment and IT architecture design. Phase 3—Use: Both existing and new benefits in this phase ensure that people in your organization are set up for success. We recognize that how and when you use the software has a direct impact on productivity and business outcomes. One of the biggest changes to Software Assurance is offering one of the commercial products —Windows Vista™ Enterprise—as part of a comprehensive solution. While you can acquire one of the other commercial or retail products offered by Microsoft, we believe that your company will realize the most value from technology plus services plus tools and resources by selecting Software Assurance with Windows Vista Enterprise. This can help you effectively manage you desktop PC environments and assist you with migration and application compatibility. Training classes and online learning courses continue to be a popular offer, and we will increase the number of vouchers for enterprise customers in 2007. Employees can also purchase Microsoft software at a substantial savings and use the software installed on their work machines on their home PCs. Phase 4—Maintain: Another significant change this year is the increased value we place on problem resolution support for your company. With Software Assurance, you have the peace of mind that your IT staff can access product support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on any product—for servers, operating systems, or Microsoft Office programs. If you have Premier Support Contracts, we are also enabling you to apply the incidents you earn through Software Assurance to your existing agreements to get a higher level of support. TechNet with online resources for IT professionals, Corporate Error Reporting, and Cold Back Up for Disaster Recovery will also continue to be offered. Phase 5—Transition: We realize that your company needs support from Microsoft while you plan to upgrade or migrate your technology. We will continue to offer support for earlier technologies that have transitioned from mainstream to extended support, with annual fees now included in the Software Assurance benefit. There is also no requirement to sign up within a 90-day period of a product’s transition to Extended Support. In addition, there is a small percentage of you that may not be in a position to purchase new hardware immediately. Microsoft is offering access to a Windows®-based operating system solution designed for those of you with legacy PCs that are running legacy operating systems. Windows Fundamentals for Legacy PCs provides you with the same security and manageability as Windows XP Service Pack 2 while providing a smooth migration path to the latest hardware and operating system. Microsoft is offering many viable options to your company. The main reason for creating a benefits package like this is to offer you choice and flexibility based on your unique needs. In presenting Software Assurance to you, we recommend customizing the value of Software Assurance based on what phase you are in and highlighting the benefits that will provide your employees with the most value right away. So that the benefits are there when they need them! The realized value comes from activating and using the benefits. Research has shown that customers who activate and use their benefits are more satisfied.
