  5. AUTOMATIC HUBS R K & J H C B C • Identified by AUTOMATIC • Must check operation to make sure hub is actually unlocking when its suppose to. • No maintenance parts available. Must replace the whole unit if defective. • Normal drivetrain play is evident on - off throttle. Page 348 Lab

  6. WHEEL BEARINGS R K & J H C B C • Remove hub. • Bend lock tab, for access to outer nut. • Remove outer nut, with special socket. • Remove washer, which has tang in groove in the spindle. • Remove inner nut. • Remove hub assembly. • Remove spindle, lube inner bearing.

  7. TOOLS R K & J H C B C • Use proper tool for JOB! • Make sure to align pin on inside nut with hole in lock washer. Page 355 Lab

  9. LATE MODEL SWING AXLES R K & J H C B C • Differential is mounted to frame solid • Uses CV joint type axles and has independent front suspension (page 332) • Ford independent front suspension front drive axle assembly uses u-joints. (page 334)
