  2. Introduction • The main energy sources –coal, petroleum, natural gas etc- non-renewable sources. • Our oil resources will last for less than 50 years from now. • Energy crisis.

  3. Need for the study • There are three international schools, 6 kms from our school towards Sarjapur. • Many children travel on their own cars.

  4. Data collected • On an average 56 children are being transported in their own cars. Single student cars –15 Two students cars –12 Three students cars –02 Five students cars –01 Six students cars –01 Total - 31cars

  5. Data Analysis • Distance from kodi to the school = 6km Milage of a car [approximately] =15 km/hr Cost of petrol = Rs. 52/l • The distance travelled by a car per day = 24km Amount of petrol per day = 1.6 liters Amount of petrol used per month/car = 41.6 liters

  6. Consumption of fuel per vehicle / month

  7. Data Analysis • For the sake of 56 children, parents are spending Rs. 67,059.20 and wasting 1289.6 liters of petrol per month.

  8. Solution • If 56 children take one school bus. Distance from Kodi to school =6km Milage of a bus =5km Capacity of bus =50 seats Amount of diesel per day =5litres Distance travelled by the bus =24km Amount of diesel per month =130litres • Cost of diesel per month =Rs. 4,160/- • If 56 children are being transported in a single bus we can save around 1150 liters of petrol per month. 14,800 liters per year.

  9. Conclusion • Educated and rich people • Same case with MNCs. • More cars –>pollution –>traffic jams –>depletion of fossil fuels.
