Sometimes the ending of a noun is a clue to its gender. Nous parlons un français passable. We speak a passable French. 5. Some nouns that refer to people can be changed from masculine to feminine by adding eto the noun ending. Note: Final t, n, d and s are silent in the masculine form. When followed by the –e in the feminine form, they are pronounced. un ami/uneamie un étudiant/uneétudiante un américain/uneaméricaine
