Objective & Vocabulary • Find the area of circles. • Radius (pg.563): the distance from the center to any point on the circle. • Diameter (pg.563): the distance across the circle through the center. • Area of a circle (pg.567): the area A of a circle is the product of π and the square of the radius [A = πr2].

  3. Example 1: Finding the Area of a Circle Find the area of each circle with the following measures. • r=3 units • r=8 millimeters

  4. Example 2: Finding the Area of a Circle The central performance area at a circus is a circular ring having a diameter of 42 feet. Find the area of the ring.

  5. Example 3: Finding the Radius of a Circle • A=615.44 sq. yds. • A=254.34 sq. ft.
