  5. iAnywhere SolutionsRFID Network Services

  6. RFID Network Services Vision For enterprises and systems integrators who need to deploy and manage thousands of RFID readers, sensors and actuators and correlate millions of data points, iAnywhere RFID Network Services is an edgeware platform that dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of developing and managing RFID solutions. Unlike RFID middleware that simply filters and routes tag data, our product provides a standards-based network of RFID services allowing concurrent access by multiple applications and key personnel.

  7. Reduces the Time, Complexity and Cost ofDeveloping and Managing RFID Solutions • Abstraction of reader/device manufacturers, standards, connection types, andprotocols from business logic and application integration layers • Single Platformprovides both critical Data Handling/Smoothing andManagement of Readers/Devices/Logic • RFID Simulator allows load and content testing without hardware investment • Generates actual EPC and ISO tag data based on wizard responses • Dynamic Version Control and deployment of platform components and logic(controllers, connectors, business modules) • Plug-able framework allows Multiple Applications to concurrently access dataand state from lower layers • Application logic and security maintained in separate domains • Supports disparate device types (readers/printers/PLCs/Sensors/Actuators/etc…) • Rapid Support (2-3 weeks) for new device types and models • Real-time alerting and recovery from Power/Connectivity Loss and other exception conditions

  8. Leverages and Extends Industry Standards • Web Services interfaces support n-tier integration with applications, databases and middleware • Ability to notify registered clients via different protocols(e.g. HTTP, TCP/IP, RPC, SOAP, etc...) • Serialized Binary Transmission of transactional data shared across peer connections through .Net Remoting interfaces • Critical for scaled implementations - Faster than XML • Leverages standards defined by the EPC Global organization • Also supports non-EPC ISO & proprietary tags • CIM-based Management Interface for dynamic management of entire device population/logic layer - allows device additions and profile alterations on-the-fly without stopping applications and other devices • CIM Provider allows seamless integration with existing device management infrastructures such as OpenView, Tivoli, Afaria, Unicenter, etc … • LDAP Directory Integration controls device, tag and data access rights • Remote Web Administration

  14. RFID End-to-End

  15. What does the RFID Total Solution address? • Easily create business processes requiring RFID data and RFID alert and notification • Notifications and Alerts pre-packaged for use by business processes • Integration into external systems or availability of data through web services • Conversion of RFID tag data into a relational format • Low-level tag format are converted into schema • Business schema models enable enforcement of business rules and constraints through availability and tracking of data • High speed data streaming into ASX • Streaming may go directly from RFID Edgeware Layer to ASX • Data may go from Orchestration Layer into ASX • Integrated modeling environment that encompasses business architecture, business process, messaging, and data.

  16. Visual RFID Business Process An External System is updated to reflect a business transaction RFID data is available through Web Services RFID event initiates a Service within the Orchestration Layer RFID data is rearranged for further processing

  17. Real Time Location Services Define rules, alerts, and thresholds: “Horse is within a Premise” Define logical boundaries mapped to a physical boundary

  18. Suppliers Main Warehouse Distribution Center Asset RT Telecom Asset Tracking Scenario Install Tag

  19. Other Use Cases • Tracking of lab specimens or equipment within a hospital • Tracking of animals as part of USDA mandates • Tracking of people in a hospitality or entertainment venue • Storage of complete service records on tagged equipment • Detection of tampering or adverse temperature conditions • Fraud and Counterfeit prevention in tickets/documents • Airline luggage tracking and identification • Retail out-of-stock shelf replenishment • Customer loyalty contact-less smart cards
