  2. Plot Summary • Beloved tells the story of slaves, Sethe, Baby Suggs, Paul D, and many others who escape from the Kentucky plantation known as Sweet Home. It describes the painful aftermath of slavery from a variety of perspectives. Part ghost story, part slave-narrative, the novel is hailed by many as one of the greatest works of literature of all time.
