  1. Mathematical Problems

  2. Ex.1. In Xuquer’s bank the floods, caused by the cold drop in autumn and spring, are a problem for its population. In order to know in real time amount of rain water during the storm, a person has placed a recipient with completely vertical walls and flat base in his yard. Without knowning the dimensions of the container, this person has maesured the water lavel with a dipstrick in millimeters and has found that are level reaches 60 mm from the beginning of rain. Find the volume of water that has fallen in L/m2. H=60mm=0,6dm Pp=1m2=100dm2 V=Pp*H V=100*0,6 V=60L Answser:Has fallen 60L/m2.

  3. Ex.2. We want to know the number of ants that live in an anthill. A certain day we take 1000 alive ants, we mark them with a white point and release them. After 5 days thee marked ants are dispersed throughout the nest. Them we come back to capture 1200 ants and we verify yhay there are 10 marked ants. What is the total number of ants? Capture 1000 ants 10 capture ants in 1200 ants in anthill 1200*1000=1200000 Answer:A.1.200.000.

  4. Ex.3. In Alginet purifying sewage water is recycled in the village. After filtering al. Potential solid dissolved organic matter remains in water. Then the water was slowly added to a digester where anaerobic microorganisms transform the decaying organic matter into inorganic waste and other substances that are not sluble and can opt to commercialize the compound. So under ideal condition of temperature and nutrient medium a becterium divides into two after 20 minutes. 40 minutes later we come back and we split 4 bacteria. A.Calculate the number of bacteria that is expected within 48 hours of continuous growth. B.If a bacterium weighs 10-12 grams, weigh about bacterial mass obtained after 48 hours? Bacterium divides into two after 20 minutes Time=48h=2880 minut Bacterium weighs 10 grams 2880/20=144 2144 Answer. After 48 hoursbeen 22300745198530623141535718272648 bacteriumsThemweighsisabout 22300745198530623141535718272648g.

  5. Ex.4. Earthquakes produce seismic waves, several of which highlight the P waves and S waves. The P waves are fastest and S waves recorded on seismographs after a delay in he arrival of P waves. The distance from the seismograph to the earthquake focus is directly proportional to the delay between the two waves. It is known that a seismograph located 500 km from epicenter of an earthquake recorded the arrival of P waves and S waves with a delay of 52 s. In an eartquake, Albacete’s seismographic station recorded a 12 s delay the arrival of P waves and S waves. Another seismographic station in Valencia recorded the same eartquake with a delay of 20 and another seismographic station in Denia recorded iy with a delay of 18 s.

  6. A.Calculate the distans to which the stations are located in Albacete, Valencia and Denia on the epicenter of the earthquake. V-distance to Valencia, delay 20 s A-distance to Albacete, delay 12 s D-distance to Denia, delay 18 s (500*20)/52=192,3=V (500*18)/52=170 km=D (500*12)/52=115,4=A Answer:Distance which station on the epicenter on the earthquake are for Denia station 170 km, for Valencia 192,3 km and for Albacete 115,4 km.

  7. B.Using a compass and map locate the epicenter. Answer: Epicenter is a Mula. C. If the maximum aplitude of waves recorded in the stsation of Valencia is 20 mm, calculate the magnitude of the earthquake using the richter diagram. 20 mm=2000 µm 100*(2000/192,3)=1040 100log=1040 Log=0,67 Answer:This is small earthqueke.
