  1. SOUTH MECK WRESTLING 2014-2015

  2. EVERY DAY ACCOUNTABILITY

  3. EVERY DAY …. • FOR US TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU MUST BE ENGAGED EVERYDAY • THIS MEANS ALWAYS BEING AT PRACTICE • THIS MEANS LETTING COACHES KNOW WHY YOU WILL NOT BE AT PRACTICE • THIS MEANS UNDERSTANDING WHAT IS A VALID REASON AND WHAT IS NOT

  4. Every day • Sickness, family emergency, tutoring/extra academic help would be valid reasons • These are all valid reasons but they cannot turn into weekly excuses

  5. SCHOOL AND WRESTLING EVERY DAY • PRACTICE EVERYDAY 3:00-5:00 • TAKE CARE OF YOUR SCHOOL WORK • EXTRA HELP/TUTORING IS A VALID REASON TO BE LATE TO PRACTICE BUT IT CANNOT TURN INTO AN EXCUSE

  6. EVERY DAY • IF A WRESTLER IS INJURED AND CANNOT PRACTICE HE IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE AT PRACTICE • THE ONLY EXCUSE FOR MISSING A PRACTICE WHILE INJURED WOULD BE TO DO REHABILITATION OFF SITE OR IF A DOCTOR/TRAINER FEELS RESTING AT HOME WOULD BE A BETTER OPTION • AN INJURED ATHLETE IS STILL PART OF THE TEAM

  7. EVERY DAY • TWO MISSED PRACTICES YOUR LOCKER WILL BE CLEANED OUT. • IF YOU WANT BACK ON THE TEAM YOU MUST SEE coach keiser FIRST AND EXPLAIN THE SITUATION.

  8. EVERY DAY • EVERY WRESTLER WILL be ASSIGNED A LOCKER • YOUR LOCKER AND THE AREA IT IS IN IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP CLEAN • I EXPECT NOTHING TO BE LEFT ON THE FLOOR. WHAT IS YOURS SHOULD BE KEPT IN YOUR LOCKER.

  9. EVERY DAY • WRESTLERS ARE EXPECTED TO PRACTICE until the regional tournament which is feb 13, even if they will not be competing in the regional tournament. • An athlete who has qualified to earn a varsity letter but does not show for practice the week of regionals is in danger of forfeiting his letter

  10. Every day • All second team wrestlers are expected to manage their weight and attend dual meets and dual meet tournaments just like they were first team wrestlers. • All second team wrestlers are not expected to attend individual tournaments. • Which include: porter ridge, holy angels, nations ford and regionals. • Second team wrestlers who will not be wrestling in the holiday clash and conference tournaments will be expected to help out with tournament duties even though they will not be wrestling.

  11. Who starts? • Wrestle offs for starting positions will be held as time allows. We will try for weekly wrestle-offs but sometimes our schedule/time will not permit that. • Any wrestler with a minimum of 10 matches and who has at least a .500 record (5-5) will have to beaten twice to lose his starting position. No wrestle-offs will be held after the conference tournament.

  12. Earning a letter • In order to receive a varsity letter a wrestler must wrestle 6 varsity matches; dual meets or tournaments. • But as stated earlier; a wrestler who has qualified to earn a varsity letter but does not show for practice the week of the regional tournament is in danger of forfeiting his varsity letter.

  13. New to the sport • Wrestlers who are new to the sport will have to pass a 10 question quiz on wrestling scoring and rules in order to participate in wrestle-offs for a starting position.

  14. WHAT MAKES THESE TEAMS SPECIAL?

  15. The entire team is committed to …. • Getting better everyday • Being held accountable everyday • Handling there schoolwork everyday • Time management everyday
