  3. Be courteous. • Hold the elevator for others. • Keep public areas clean, especially the bathrooms. • Listen to music and the TV at an appropriate level to not disturb others’ sleep or studying. • Say “Hi” to everyone: other residents, university staff and more. A “hello” can brighten up someone’s day.

  4. Be studious. • Keep a schedule of projects and homework to be done. • Do it early to get it out of the way so you don’t miss out on other things. • Don’t stress! Sure, it’s important but not worth the stress. Take it all one step at a time. • Visit the Writing Center (214 Lawrence). • Use the library for a quiet escape.

  5. Be smart. • Don’t get into trouble with: • the law. • Public Safety. • the RA staff. • Don’t tick off your roommate. • Talk out any problems with those involved. • Don’t be afraid to ask for advice.

  6. Have fun. • Start a movie or game night in your room. • Make a date for meals, on- and off-campus. • Join a student organization. • Explore the town of West Chester. • Join an intramural sports team. • Being a roommate is being a friend. • Go to on-campus concerts (Asplundh, Swope).

  7. Be open. • Keep your door open when you’re inside. • Make new friends. • Explore new music genres. • Watch a variety of new movies. • Try new foods. • Study new subjects. • Think about different ideals. • Respect others and their beliefs.

  8. Be safe. • Alcohol • Know who you’re drinking with. • Know your limit. • Know what you’re drinking. • Best tip: don’t drink (unless you are 21 and off-campus). • Sex • Talk it over beforehand. • Don’t pressure anyone or feel pressured into sex. • Be safe: STD-testing and protection.

  9. Be healthy. • Don’t give up on your diet for college food. • Hit the gym in Sykes. • Run around the beautiful town of West Chester; find a friend to go with you. • Keep your room clean. Rotting food is bad! • Get the proper amount of sleep. • Kick old habits like smoking.

  10. Be social. • Make friends. • Take breaks from studying and refresh yourself in a social setting. • Join an organization or two: these are great places to make connections to other people. • Leave your door open (when you’re in it and want guests).
