  7. Scoilnet focused on the delivery of content to teachers and students. Irish teachers want to find content that is linked to the curriculum “Resource Finder” has links to content that is found, reviewed and categorised by Irish teachers. Added value with Quizzes, Themepages and Crosswords

  8. When do users visit Scoilnet? Visits to the resource finder of over 30,000 per week. 50%-60% of resources are accessed.

Scoilnet: MELT Metadata Setup a central Metadata repository adhering to international standards (IEEE/LOM) Populate repository with Metadata relevant to Irish education system Interface with EUN and other Federated Searches Work with the NCCA and with other key partners to develop an agreed metadata schema and content identification for an Irish context

Scoilnet: Procurement Digital Reference Content • Establishment of a list of Suppliers/Publishers of Digital Reference Content and Associated Services to enter an agreement with the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE). • Under the Agreement contracts will be awarded for the provision of digital reference content to primary and post-primary schools. • Categories of digital reference content will include • Encyclopedias, • Dictionaries, • Thesauri, • Atlases, • Media sources and • other materials • This material will be of educational value and will allow learners and teachers to support their curricular resources. The format of this digital reference content can be text, graphical, audio and video.
