What We Are WBG’s twin goals: The goals are to reduce extreme poverty in the world to less than 3 percent by 2030, and to foster income growth of the bottom 40 percent of the population in each country. • A unique global partnership • 189 member countries • Staff from more than 170 countries • Offices in over 130 locations • 5 institutions working for sustainable solutions that reduce poverty and build shared prosperity in developing countries.

  6. Bhutan and World Bank Country Management Unit • Bhutan became the member of the World Bank in 1981. • World Bank Bhutan country office was established in 2011.

Country Partnership Framework • Covering between Jul 2014 and Jun 2019. • Closely aligned with the Government’s 11th FYP and supports Bhutan’s aspirations to achieve sustainable and inclusive growth. • All WBG’s programs and projects are aligned with the CPS. • Structured around 3 areas: • Improving fiscal and spending efficiency, • Increasing private sector growth and competitiveness, and • Supporting green development.
