  9. About the Award • There are 25 -30 submissions per year ( would like to see this number increase) • The award focuses on: • Team work • Customer service • Education/Training • Strategic outlook • Productivity

What We Do • Manage inventory of $4,000,000 within both CS and OR departments • Build case (procedure) carts for 18,232 of cases per year • Issue 1,265,612 of items that support the case cart and other inventory needs of the hospitals • Clean, wrap, and sterilize 210,134 items supporting the above cases per year • Clean and distribute 18,151 of equipment per year supporting the needs of the floor and units nurse staff

  11. Our Submission • Team work – CS and the OR working on placing inventory on the perpetual system. Staff capable of working at either campus

  12. Our Submission • Customer service – CCU & CVRU cable cleaning CS retrieving supplies after hours from MM for nursing.

  13. Our Submission • Education/Training – 44% staff certified technicians. 47% attend local CS chapter seminars

  14. Our Submission • Strategic outlook – Collaboration between CS and OR has resulted in $452,626 inventory reduction 2007. Procedure based kits, reduce the number of items pulled for case carts.

  15. Our Submission • Productivity- 1/07-8/07 10,037 surgical case carts. 8,919 sterilization loads. 151,017 items processed

  16. 2008 CS of the Year • Deadline for submission for the 2008 CS of the Year is the last week of June. The winner will be profiled in the September 2008 issue. • Would like to see the award stay in Virginia
