Holiday Essay • You will be writing an essay based on your favorite holiday or type of celebration. • This essay will be either persuasive or expository based on the prompt directions you receive. Regardless of the genre, all essays should meet the following guidelines: - Follow an appropriate organizational pattern - Be sure to include PLENTY of examples and supporting details - Be descriptive, using charged words, vivid verbs, and concrete nouns - Engage the reader through speaker’s voice creating mental images - Use a variety of sentence types - Avoid fragments and run-ons • All essays will require a pre-write, a rough draft, and a final draft with revisions identified. • Assignment can only be worked on in class and is due on Friday, December 11, 2009.
