  14. Prairie Dogs In order for the black footed ferret to live here in the Aubrey Valley of Arizona, there needs to be a large population of prairie dogs. WHY? The Black Footed Ferrets rely on the Prairies Dogs for food and shelter. They take over the empty burrows.
