  1. 7 Elements of Culture • 9 September 2010 • Warm-up: Should the United States have an official language? Should those entering the United States as immigrants be forced to speak English? Explain… minimum 4 to 5 sentences. • Objectives: Identify and analyze the 7 elements of culture.

  2. 13 September 2010 • Warm-up: Which of the 7 elements of culture do you find the most important, why? 2-3 Complete sentences. • Discuss the 7 elements of culture. • Review 1.3 • Discuss 1-3 pg. 6 • Assign 1.4

  3. 14 September 2010 • Warm-up: Which one of the 3 forms of government (democracy, republic, and dictatorship) would you rather live under and why? • Read 1.4 and complete the packet.

  4. 20 September 2010 • Warm-up: Turn to page 552 and answer questions 1-3. • Work Independently on maps of SW Asia (due at the end of class). • Work Independently on 25.1 Questions 1-29 (due at the end of class / or Tuesday (depends)).

  5. 21 September 2010 • Warm-up: After reading 25.1 provide 2 examples of how ideas moved throughout the region. • Writing assignment is due tomorrow. • Homework answer questions for 25.2 • College Fair Sophomores go to the old gym 4th pd.

  6. 22 September 2010 • Warm-up: How would you go about bringing order to a chaotic region? 2-3 developed sentences • Turn in your writing assignment. • Pop Quiz

  7. 27 September 2010 • Warm-up: Summarize the beliefs of Zoroastrianism. Pgs. 560-61 • Discuss warm-up. • Review objectives • Read 554 answer and discuss questions 1-2 (if there is time).

  8. 28 September 2010 Warm-up: Rank order the 10 Commandments from most (1) to least (10) important. In your warm-up book: Write 2 to 4 sentences explaining which item you selected as being the most important and why.

  9. 7 October 2010 • Warm-up: What is the difference between a fact and a belief? • Objectives: • Create a poster of one of the 3 Abrahamic religions that demonstrates the student’s understanding of their selected religion by: the drawing the religion’s symbol, displaying 5 facts, and 5 beliefs. • If you finish early, please work to complete the guided reading packet 26.1-26.3 (pgs.568-583)

(572). • Turn in your poster • Discuss the warm-up • Complete the group activity on Islamic dynasties. • Objectives: • Identify the major Islamic dynasties of the Middle East. • Identify and discuss the accomplishments and the fall of each dynasty.

  14. 19 October 2010 • Warm-up: Who is to blame for the Arab-Israeli Conflict, why? 2-3 sentences. • Turn in questions 2-7 pg. 622 • Watch Palestinian jihad planner. • Discuss mind set/rationale. • Discuss important dates. • Homework: Handout • Summarize Palestinian and Israeli Perspective (2 paragraphs) • Do you believe there will ever be peace between these two sides, why? (1 Paragraph)
