  3. Phylum Annelida- Class Polychaeta. Polychaete dissection. Note esophageal caeca and muscular pharynx. Remember, polychaete worms have parapodia (which look like “fins”) [fig 6.4]

  4. Phylum Annelida- Class Oligochaeta: note typhlosole (increases surface area to aid in digestion). [fig 6.8]

  5. Phylum Annelida- Class Oligochaeta: close-up of intestine w/ typhlosole. [fig 6.8]

  6. Phylum Annelida- Class Oligochaeta: note longitudinal & circular muscles, nephridium, and the coelom. [fig 6.8]

  7. Phylum Annelida- Class Oligochaeta. Earthworm dissection[fig 6.7]

  8. Phylum Annelida- Class Hirudinea. B A View of both preserved organism (A) and slide of whole mount (B). Note segmentation, as well as the 2 suckers found in all leeches. Remember all leeches are not blood-suckers. [fig 6.9]
