Kentucky Real Estate Trends What is happening as a result of these trends? • Increases in remodeling as compared to new construction • 12 Biggest Remodeling Trends for 2011 • The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) conducted a poll of their top builders and remodelers – found that most people are not starting major renovation projects, but rather smaller projects. • Number 9 on the list was “Going Green.” Bamboo floors, grass thatched roofs, bark siding are the more exotic improvements but in addition people are getting energy efficient upgrades. • Source: IlyceGlink, CBS MoneyWatch.com 12/8/2010

Kentucky Real Estate Trends • The Lexington Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders indicate that remodeling is on the rise • A recent survey by the National Association of Home Builders indicates that homes of the future will be smaller homes with “green” features. • Most likely – Low-e windows, Engineered wood, Water-efficient features and Energy Star Rating for the whole home • Somewhat likely – Insulation higher than required by code, Tankless water heater, Argon gas windows, Green Certification from ANSI and/or state Green Building programs, Solar water heating and electric • Source: The New Home in 2015, NAHB Economics, December 2010
