Mission To provide access to career and technology (CTE) and special education-related multimedia information (books, curriculum materials, videos, online courses) to teachers, parents and education professionals throughout Texas and nationally.
Grant Overview • Funded by Texas Education Agency • Main objectives: • Provide a library for resources and materials for CTE related to serving special populations • post-secondary options for individuals with special needs • legal issues, • various special needs, • behavior and classroom management, • instructional strategies for general and special education • gender equity and non-traditional career choices • career assessment
Library Functions • Materials available for check out to CTE teachers, Special education and General education teachers; parents, paraprofessionals and administrators • Conduct and provide information on current research and CTE practices through electronic newsletters • Answer questions related to CTE and special populations related topics
Library Functions • Make available via the internet online courses and multimedia instructional modules (CTE best practices – 05-06 and 06-07) • Maintain an up-to-date center website – online database of materials, means of communication (live chat, email, inquiry form), downloads (brochure, DVD), useful resources in CTE related fields. • Make available via train-the-trainer workshops instructional modules
Educational Product Development • Produce multimedia (DVDs and Online Courses) material for CTE teachers showcasing best practices in career and technology education.
Instructional Modules • Four instructional modules • Legal Issues • Assessment and Evaluation • Instructional Strategies • Classroom and Behavior Management • Accompanying instructional manual • Available online at http://ctsp.tamu.edu and through DVD • Content is presented in a FAQ format (based on questions collected through previous workshops) • Participants were current CTE teachers and students in CTE Classrooms • DVD Chapters and online content is organized by topics • Future step to offer modules through online courses
