  2. History of figure skating Figure skating is the oldest discipline in the Olympic winter games. As far back 1908, figure skating competitions were included in the Antwerp games.

  3. 2 facts • Figure skating is the first game of the winter Olympic sports • A standard skating rink is about 30 by 60 meters in size, with plastic and sliding boards.

  4. equipment • Custom-made boots are made out of thick and stiff leather, with extra laces and a long tongue, which provides the ankle with both flexibility and support usually made to the individual order for the skater.
