Diseases • A disease is an abnormal condition affecting the body of an organism. • In simpler terms its something that harms us usually form the inside. • These diseases are caused by microorganisms, which are like little criminals that cannot be seen by us without a microscope. That's why their called “micro”organisms!

  3. Malaria • This is a disease caused by Plasmodium. • This is transmitted by the female anopheles mosquito.

  4. Malaria Once they are in the human body, they destroy red blood cells.

  5. Prevention • Preventive drugs such as quinine and chloroquine are used. • Preventive methods such as sleeping under a mosquito nets.

  6. Typhoid • Typhoid is a common worldwide illness, caused by Salmonella typhae. • It is transmitted by the ingestion of food or water contaminated with excretory products of an infected person.

  7. Symptoms • Typhoid fever is characterized by a slowly progressive fever as high as 104 °F and profuse sweating. • Later on diarrhoea also can occur. • After three weeks dehydration would occur. • Inflammation of the inner heart layer.

  8. Preventions • Avoid risky foods and drinks. • Get vaccinated against typhoid fever. • Avoid foods and beverages from street vendors. • Avoid raw vegetables and fruits that cannot be peeled.

  9. Influenza • Influenza, also referred to as the flu, is caused by, yeah you guessed it, a virus. Now what is a virus? • Basically its smaller than bacteria and yet its his big brother because medicine has no effect on it.

  10. Prevention • The only thing which can save us from the flu is our own immune system. • Preventive steps would be to wash hands with soap regularly. • Vaccination is highly recommended as it amps up our own immune system. • General preventive methods are good hygiene and health.
