Policy Implementation Dates • Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Requirement (QAPI) • OPTN Bylaws Appendices B (Membership Requirements for Organ Procurement Organizations) and D (Membership Requirements for Transplant Hospitals and Transplant Programs) • Requires all OPOs and transplant hospitals to develop and implement a QAPI program • Effective September 1, 2015

MPSC Committee Projects • Transplant Hospital Definition • Original proposal distributed fall 2014 public comment • Feedback prompted Committee to readdress proposal • Discussed at June 2015 OPTN/UNOS Board of Directors meeting • MPSC Working Group meeting regularly • Aiming for spring 2016 public comment

MPSC Committee Projects • Outcome Measures Work Group • Charge- evaluate ways to decrease the perceived disincentives to transplant • Possible Solution- • Identify donor kidneys at high risk for discard that could be excluded from post-transplant outcomes review • Propose as a variance • Aiming for spring 2016 public comment

MPSC Committee Projects • Post-transplant performance review of multi-organ transplants • Focusing on SLK transplants  most frequent multi-organ transplant • Suggest initially reviewing SLK outcomes separately from single organ transplants • Considering SLK outcome pilot review prior to proposing formal changes • Working with SRTR to develop models for SLK transplants

MPSC Committee Projects • MPSC projects placed on hold • Composite pre-transplant metrics • Primary surgeon qualification - primary or first assistant on transplant cases (JSWG) • Primary Physician sub-specialty board certifications (JSWG) • Define working knowledge for primary physician qualification pathways (JSWG) • Reassess currency requirements for primary surgeons and primary physicians (JSWG) • Consider requirement for primary physician observation of procurements (JSWG) • Approved transplant fellowship training programs (JSWG) • Update primary kidney transplant physician Bylaws (JSWG) • MPSC projects/JSWG topics out for fall 2015 public comment • Key personnel procurement requirement modifications • On non-discussion agenda, please submit feedback through OPTN website • Deleting “Foreign Equivalent” from OPTN/UNOS Bylaws
