Mission Statement The mission of the City of Phoenix Retirees Association (COPRA) is to represent the interests of retired general employees of the City of Phoenix in matters related to benefits, pension, health insurance and other issues of mutual concern.
Goal COPRA’s goal is to seek the improvement and protection of City of Phoenix Retiree's pensions and other retirement benefits.
Prior COPRA Initiatives • Pension Equalization Program (PEP) - Increases your pension annually after the first three years of retirement if funds are available • The “Thirteenth Check” - Guarantees a “thirteenth check” of at least 1% of your gross annual pension if funds are available • Minimum Pension Increases - Increases for long-term retirees - those who retired prior to 1989 received pension increases in February 2000
Latest Copra Initiative • Dental Insurance for Retirees and Families • March 1, 2010 effective date • DHMO - in network coverage • Fee schedule for services • PPO • 80/20% on basic services with $50 deductible • 50/50% on Tier 3 coverage (crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, orthodontia) • $2000 annual maximum
Benefits • An advocate is available whenever you have a problem with or question about retiree benefits. • A COPRA representative is on the City of Phoenix Retirement Board. • A COPRA representative is on the Health Care Task Force. • The Copra Chronicle is filled with valuable retiree news 9 times yearly. • Educational events and social activities
