Starvation in Rome • 90% of Rome is poor and has trouble buying food • 20% of poor Romans are starving • In Rome in 440 BC there was a famine that lead many people to problems and was one of the many causes of the fall of Rome. • Money is hard to get in Rome, so many people couldn’t afford food.
Starvation in Rome (cont.) • In Rome, starvation is a huge problem. All of your problems lead to starvation in one way or another. When a person is starving, they are deprived of food. If Romans aren't getting enough food, the population will drop and many people will die.
Starvation in Rome • After the Punic Wars, when the farmers that were subbing as warriors returned, their farms had been destroyed. Thus, there was a shortage of food. • Also, Rome was so overpopulated that increased the difficulty of finding food.

Solving starvation in the US • In many areas, there are multiple charities and non-profit organizations that will help people in poverty. For example, in a very populated area, there might be soup kitchens, shelters, food pantries, and welfare centers to help people in need. At many of these organizations might see 300 people a day. Food stamps might be distributed as well.
SOLUTIONS! • Romans~ Starvation is such a HUGE problem, that it will probably never be solved. But, you can help the people of Rome that are in poverty by opening up shelters with regulations for how many nights a person can stay, or soup kitchens. You can also offer food stamps and welfare programs.
