Introduction • The computer trainer is forever a learner. • Enormous changes in technology and business since the first PC’s were introduced. • Advancement in technology does not allow us to use the same training models. • It is human nature to be attached to the old and the familiar. • The new and different takes a bit of getting used to.

Adapting to Change • Computer trainers have to adapt to the constant changes. • Speed of changes • Planning, implementing and evaluating our training no longer takes months. • Software and hardware is out of date in months. • Societal changes require new training methods. • “We need to change, we need to adapt and we need to do it yesterday.”

Changing the Training Paradigm • Paradigm-something that serves as an example or model of how things should be done. • The existing paradigm of computer training has fast become out of date. • Computer trainers now have to be able to adapt, change and become more responsive to the environment around them.

  7. Computer Training Paradigm The Learning Model-the model we use to understand how people learn. The Training Model-the model we use to determine and direct the trainer’s function. The Training Delivery Model-The model we use to determine how the training is ultimately delivered.

Conclusion • The computer trainer is forever a learner • Great communication skills as well as high-tech knowledge skills. • Adapting to the learning changes will not mean a matter of choice but a matter of survival. • People will demand new, easier and innovative ways of learning and computer trainers must respond.
