Why iPads? The implementation of digital technologies has provided the foundation, for students and teachers to foster collaboration, strengthen communication and provide a dynamic wealth of academic resources at any time.
Research For example, a recent article in the Momentum Journal of the National Catholic Educational Associationof a study conducted by Renee Stoeckle stated “Catholic middle schools must offer a competitive academic curriculum while building character, promoting virtue and deepening faith.”
More than any other programming, the technology initiative has changed the tone of our middle school. Our teachers have become facilitators of learning, changing even the physical structure of the classroom to be more conducive to collaborative, self-directed and project-based learning. The students show their Catholic identity by sharing a knowledge of the iPad with others.

Who is responsible for having the iPad fixed … if it breaks? According to the apple care , it will cover for 2 incidents. The student’s parents will take it to a local Apple store for repair. For obvious reasons, repairs must be done promptly. How will internet surfing be monitored? St. Hugh’s firewall policy will be implemented on all iPads that are supervised by the school. Also, teachers using the Teacher Focus will be able to lock to a single app. FAQ
Does my child need Internet access at home? Yes. For the students to work on the iPads, they must have access to the Internet. When will school-related material be loaded on the students’ iPads? During the first week of school, school-related material will be loaded on the students’ iPads. When will the students be trained on how to take notes and use their iPads to their full potential? Teachers will train their students on how to use their iPads and access their subject area materials. FAQ
Can the students use their iPad for personal use and install other apps on the device? • Students may use their iPad for personal use provided they follow the school’s policy and code of conduct. • What happens if the iPad is left at home? • Students can rent an iPad from the school at $25 per day. • Why do I need to pay the Academic Fee? • To cover the cost of the digital licenses for the school year. • Why Do I have to pay Technology Fee? • This fee includes: • Technology Support and maintenance • Network access • Infrastructure improvements • Instructional technology advances.
