Biographies and Personal Information Steve King Claudette Konola 51 years old Born in Michigan Grand Junction resident for 33 years Has 3 high school age sons Married for 20 years 58 years old Born in S. Dakota to a family of miners Denver resident for 17 years Western Colorado resident for past 30 years

  5. Education Steve King Claudette Konola Mesa State College graduate Earned a bachelor’s degree with a major in psychology Minor in political science University of Colorado graduate Earned a bachelor’s degree in finance

Previous Service Steve King Claudette Konola • State representative for past 4 years • Previously worked 28 years with GJPD and MCSO • Currently active between sessions 30 years of financing experience Large scale lending to companies with $100 million+ annual revenues Worked with nonprofits lending to small businesses Never held a public office

  8. Education Primary and secondary education must have funding priority Budget cutbacks at schools must not cut teachers Keep Colorado’s universities public Good education is essential to job creation Find an alternate way of testing besides CSAP style testing

  9. Jobs Most new jobs are created by entrepreneurs Small business is the backbone of our economy Tweak existing lending programs to make them more accessible to small business

  10. Financial Reform • Wants to reform how Colorado’s unemployment benefits are funded • Currently through a large New York bank • Lower principal on small business loans but raise interest rates • Easier to start up

  12. Jobs • Cut taxes to encourage growth of small business • Eliminate many regulations on new businesses • Eliminate redundant regulations on companies in the oil and gas industry • Bring more of them back to Colorado

  13. Public Safety • Make people convicted of felonies submit to DNA collection • In case of repeat offenses, they are easier to identify • Require all businesses to offer some form of personal defense training

  14. 2nd Amendment Rights • Will fight against anything that infringes on right to bear arms • Believes guns should be allowed on all college campuses • Eliminate certain criteria for obtaining a concealed carry permit
