  9. Du’aas and Hadiths about:

  10. Selection of Du’aa

  11. Selections of Hadiths • Religion is easy, and no one who exerts himself too much in religion but it overpowers him; • So act aright and keep to the mean and • Be of good cheer and ask for Divine help at morning and at evening and during a part of the night. This Hadith shows that Religion does not consist in performing excessive devotional exercises; these in fact are discouraged as they ultimately overpower the man who indulges in them. Religion is actually acting aright and keeping to the mean course; this would keep a man in good heart. What is generally considered to be Divine worship is really the seeking of Divine help for acting aright and keeping to the mean average.

  12. Selection of Hadith • What is lawful is manifest and what is unlawful is manifest and between these two are doubtful things which many people do not know. • So whoever guards himself against the doubtful things, he keeps intact his religion and his honor unsullied, • and whoever falls into doubtful things is like the herdsman who grazes his cattle on the borders of a reserve he is likely to enter it. • Know that every king has a reserve and know that the reserve of Allah in His land is what He has forbidden. Know that in the body there is a bit of flesh; when it is sound the whole body is sound, and when it is corrupt the whole is corrupt. Lo!, it is the heart

  13. Selection of Hadith • Anas said, The Messenger of Allah, (pbuh), said: "None of you has faith unless I am dearer to him than his father and his son and all mankind." Though here only love for the Prophet is spoken of, yet what is meant is love for Allah and His Prophet. Love for a person springs from the good which he does to us or from the benefit which we may derive from him. As the Holy Prophet is the greatest benefactor of humanity, and of his Ummah in particular, every Muslim is required to have greater love for him than for any other human being. Highest love for the Holy Prophet is made a test of faith, because the stronger the ties which bind a man to him the greater the strength with which he will be able to walk in his footsteps and the larger his capacity to do good to humanity.

  14. Selection of Hadith • The Prophet, (pbuh) said: A Muslim is he from whose tongue and hand Muslims are safe, and a Muhaajir is he who forsakes what Allah has forbidden. A man is called a Muslim when he declares his faith in Tawhid (Oneness), but he becomes a genuine Muslim when he begins to be a man of peace from whose tongue and hand all Muslims are safe. It is one thing to enter Islam and quite another to live it. Such life of peace not only raises the individual's character to a high level; it also lays down the basis of a goodly brotherhood. It is not meant that a Muslim is at liberty to do harm to non-Muslims by his tongue or his hand; Muslims are mentioned in the Hadith because it is with one's own community that one has largely to deal. The aim is to lay the foundations of a world-wide brotherhood in which every one should feel himself safe, and that brotherhood can draw others into it only if they find themselves safe from the tongue and hand of a Muslim.

  15. Selection of Hadith • Anas said, The Messenger of Allah (pbuh), said: • He who goes forth in search of knowledge is in the way of Allah till he returns • The Prophet also said: • Whomsoever Allah intends to do good, He gives him right understanding of religion. And Knowledge is maintained only through teaching. The two Hadiths were related by Bukhari in the heading of Book of Knowledge The latter part shows that stress was laid not only on the acquisition of knowledge but also on conveying it to others or on teaching it.

  16. Selection of Hadith • Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: Tomorrow (in the life hereafter), closest to me in station will be those of you, who are: • True of word, • Trustworthy as custodians, • Reliable in promises, • Noble in disposition and are • Friendly with people. • The one who gives up this world for the Hereafter and the one who neglects the Hereafter for this world are not one of us. • "O Ali!" the Prophet said, "The burden is upon the parents who bring up their children to be disobedient and recalcitrant."

  17. Selection of Hadith • "Allah's mercy is with him who strengthens his child in righteousness." When asked how the parents can do this, the Holy Prophet explained, • By appointing for him that which is easy and agreeable, • By avoiding what is hard for him, • By not overburdening him, and • By not demanding of him the unusual and excessive." • He who kisses his child, for him Allah puts down a good deed, and he who gladdens the heart of his child, Allah will make him happy on the Day of Judgment. • The search of knowledge is the duty of every Muslim. Verily, Allah loves the seekers of knowledge.

  18. Selection of Hadith • Once as he was watching children, the Prophet (pbuh) declared with regret, "Woe unto children of later times on account of their parents!" • He was asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Will those parents be idolaters?" The Messenger of Allah replied, • "No, they will be Muslims who will teach their children nothing about their religious duties and in their education will forsake this, while remaining gratified with their children's efforts to attain worldly welfare. I am rid of such parents and they of me." • Visit one another, make conversation, and discuss among yourselves, • for discussion brightens the hearts that have rusted like swords, • and their polish is discussion.

  19. Selection of Hadith • The liar is the least manly of men. • Beware of falsehood; for, if you see deliverance in it, then certainly you are headed toward destruction. • I have been sent (by Allah) to ennoble man. • For everything there is an expedient; and for man it is his reason. • Once when the Prophet noticed something odd about a man asked, "Does he have a profession?" When answered in the negative, the Holy Prophet said, "He has fallen in my eyes.

  20. Selection of Hadith • A man asked the Prophet (pbuh), "O Messenger of Allah! Show me what to do to achieve the nearness to Allah, the Most High!" The Holy Prophet answered: "Never tell a lie." • Abominable in Allah's eyes is the one who honors a wealthy man for his wealth exclusively. • The person who desires to be loved and esteemed by people, let him be devout and Allah-fearing. • The one who does not keep his promise has weak religion. • The person who believes in Allah and the Hereafter should fulfill his promises.

  21. Selection of Hadith • The person who would not bear to humble himself for a moment in order to learn something will forever stay in the disgrace of ignorance. • The one who does not see Allah's blessings except in what he eats, drinks and wears, has surely fallen short of his duty and is near to Allah's chastisement. • Pursuit of lawful livelihood is the duty of every Muslim, man or woman. • To struggle for one's family's livelihood is like fighting in the way of Allah. • Asked, "Whose earnings are better?," the Holy Prophet answered, "Of him who toils with his hands."

  22. Selection of Hadith • If one of you has a seedling in your hand and sees that the world's end has come, but finds enough time to plant it, then you should not hesitate to plant it. • If a Muslim plants a field or a tree, and men, birds, and beasts eat of it, then it will be considered as an act of charity. • The person who eats of the toil of his hands will on the Day of Judgment stand with the Prophets of Allah and be rewarded likewise. • Repulsive is he to Allah who chooses to live at the expense of others. • The best home is one where the orphan is treated well and the worst one is where he is ill-treated..

  23. Selection of Hadith • Truly, everyone of you is a guardian responsible for his charge: • the Emir is the guardian over his people and responsible for them; • the man is the master of his household and responsible for them. • Indeed, all of you are guardians and answerable to your charges. • If you have a child behave with him like a child. • The ink of the scholar is more holy than the blood of the martyr. • He who travels in the search of knowledge, to him God shows the way of Paradise.

  24. Selection of Hadith • The prop for man is his reason. • Be polite with your children and mend your own manners. • Treat your children with justice as you yourself desire others to treat you justly. • Instruct your children in Salat (Prayer) when they reach the age of seven. • Love children and be compassionate with them, • and when you promise them something, always fulfill it, • because, they certainly consider you their benefactors. • Anas Ibn Malik says, "Indeed! whenever the Messenger of Allah passed by children, he greeted them and gave them something to eat."

  25. Selection of Hadith • Render respect to your elders and be compassionate with younger ones. • He is not one of us who does not respect his elders and is not kind to his juniors. • "Four things make good fortune: • good children, • sincere friends, • an agreeable wife and • that one's work be at the place one resides." • While in another place the Prophet (pbuh) said, "It is good fortune for a man to have a son resembling himself, a devout wife, comfortable conveyance and a spacious house."

  26. Selection of Hadith • The most honored among people is he who is pious, and the strongest among people is he who depends on Allah. • A man giving in alms one piece of silver in his lifetime is better for him than giving one hundred when he is about to die. • To meet friends cheerfully and invite them to a feast are charitable acts. • To extend consideration towards neighbors and send them presents are charitable acts. • To acquire knowledge is binding upon all Muslims, whether male or female.

  27. Selection of Hadith • Acquire knowledge, because he who acquires it in the way of the Lord, performs an act of piety; • He who speaks of it praises the Lord; and who seeks it, adores God, • He who dispenses instruction in it, bestows alms; and who imparts it to its fitting objects, performs an act of devotion to God. • Knowledge enables its possessor to distinguish what is forbidden from what is not; it lights the way to Heaven; it is our friend in the desert, our companion in solitude, our companion and benefit to friends; • It guides us to happiness; it sustains us in misery; it is our ornament in the company of friends; it serves as an armor against our enemies. • With knowledge the creatures of Allah rise to the heights of goodness and to noble position, associate with the sovereigns in this world and attain the perfection of happiness in the next.

  28. Selection of Hadith • Keep yourselves far from envy, because it eats up and takes away good actions, like the fire that eats up and burns wood. • Whoever suppresses his anger, when he has in his power to show it, God will give him a great reward. • He is not strong and powerful, he who throws people down, but he is strong who withholds himself from anger. • Deal gently with people, and be not harsh; cheer them and condemn not. • There are no two works better than silence and a good disposition;. • The best of friends is he who is best in behavior and character.

  29. Selection of Hadith • One who does not practice modesty and does not refrain from shameless deeds is not a Muslim. • Paradise lies at the feet of thy mother. • He who wishes to enter Paradise must please his father and mother. • No one who keeps his mind focused entirely upon himself can grow large, strong and beautiful in character. • Whoever loves to meet God, God loves to meet him. • The five stated prayers erase the sins which have been committed during the intervals between them if they have not been mortal sins.

  30. Selection of Hadith • God is not merciful to him who is not so to humankind. He who is not kind to God's creation and to his own children, God will not be kind to him. • Honesty brings subsistence. Dishonesty brings poverty. • I will certainly hear him who greets me near my tomb, and I will surely respond the salaams of him who greets me from any place.

  31. Selection of Hadith • Whosoever visits a sick person, an angel calls from Heaven: "Be happy in the world and happy be your walking; and take your habitation in Paradise." • The infatuation with the worldly is the root of all evils. • Wealth properly employed is a blessing; and a man may lawfully endeavor to increase it by honest means. • One who listens to the call of a Muslim, and does not respond to it, is Not a Muslim. • One who gets up in the morning and is not concerned about the affairs of other Muslims, is Not a Muslim. • Being in need of Allah is a source of pride for me and I take pride in it.
