  5. Supporting progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals Suitability for tea in 2010 Tea suitability prediction (2050 )

Supporting climate change resilience and adaptation: Kenya • 100,000+ farmers trained on climate change adaptation and methodology embedded in KTDA FFS, so reaching more than 500,000 farmers • 3,500,000+ trees and 600,000 drought & frost resistant tea clones planted • 25,000+ energy efficient stoves installed • 2,500+ rainwater harvesting and/or drip irrigation systems installed • Programme has won various environmental awards

  7. Energy efficiency programmes: Kenya • Our work has led to: • annual energy savings of $3.8 million • saving of 300,000 trees per year • We’re now working with factories in Kenya to improve operational excellence and provide more specialized training on energy efficiency to factory staff.

Energy efficiency programmes: Global  • Malawi Energy audits and recommendations • Energy audits in Rwanda and 4 Asian countries: India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and China • Current project in Indonesia & Sri Lanka: • Meetings conducted with CEOs to present business case and financing options • Trainings for factory technicians • Best practice guidance document prepared to be distributed throughout the whole Asian tea sector
