Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Association (AFCEA) $4,000 merit-based scholarship grants for students pursuing degrees in technical fields such as: Information Technology Computer Science Engineering Mathematics Natural & Physical Sciences Other technology-related fields supportive of National Security. Ball’s Bluff Elementary School • Criteria: A senior graduating from a Loudoun County Public School (having attended Ball’s Bluff Elementary School for one complete school year) • Student will attend an institution of higher learning in the fall of 2011 • A typed essay between 500-700 words telling how you prepared for higher education and what you plan to achieve (name and school should appear on a title page but not on the pages of the essay) • The recipient of the scholarship will participate in the 5th grade promotion ceremony at Ball’s Bluff Elementary to talk to the fifth grade class about preparation for high school and beyond. • Application must be mailed to the address listed. • Deadline: April 13, 2012 See Ms. Hatcher in the Career Center or check out the LCPS website

Elaine Avington Griffin Scholarship Unsung Educators Scholarship A graduating senior with a parent or guardian who is a current classified employee of Loudoun County Public Schools in one of the following positions: Custodial , Food Service, Maintenance , Transportation ; or Warehouse The employee must have been in a qualifying position for at least five consecutive years Applications Due April 8th. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship This national program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Regan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. Looking for students with: Leadership, Drive, Integrity and Citizenship The application line is on the Foundation website at https://www.reganfoundation.org/ge-scholarship.aspx Deadline: February 17, 2012

  18. Holocaust Remembrance Project Essay Contest and Scholarship This is an essay contest You must study the Holocaust Then write an essay discussing specific topics . HOWARD HUGHES MEDICAL INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships of $7,000 each to pursue careers in science will be awarded to outstanding seniors in each high school of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS). The scholarships are non-renewable and will be applied to the first year of study at a four-year college or university. Funds will be sent to the college or university the students plan to attend and may be used to pay tuition, room, board, books, laboratory fees, and other college expenses. Applications due to Guidance Office by 3:00pm on April 11, 2012

Joshua’s Hands– A Servant’s Heart Scholarship Entrant must be a senior who both legally resides in AND attends high school in Loudoun County and intends to enter college Essay is required on the theme Choosing to Serve. The heart of the essay topic is to encourage students to write about servants who have mentored them in any way. It will be judged on originality, understanding of what it means to be a servant and community service. Deadline: April 15th

LOUDOUN CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP To be eligible for the scholarships, student applicants must: Be a member of Loudoun Credit Union; have joined Loudoun Credit Union by November 1, 20101; be the primary member of their own account, not just a joint owner on some one else’s account. Applicant’s account must be in good standing; entering college as a freshman who will be taking at least nine credit hours per semester at an accredited college or university. You may be in either an undergraduate program or an associate’s degree program at a community college; entering a Technical School as a first year student. Deadline: March 10, 2012

Izaak Walton League of America Conservation Scholarship Loudoun County Chapter Must be the child or grandchild of a member of the LCC-IWLA who has been a member in good standing for at least three years. Must be a permanent resident of Loudoun County for at least 3 years Must be graduating in 2012 and enroll as a full-time student at an accredited college. Application must be mailed to their Leesburg address by April 15th

  30. Sigma Mu Mu Chapter of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. National High School Essay Contest The contest is open to all College-bound high school seniors. The essay must be entitled “The impact of social media on the advancement of social and economic issues in the US and the World Contest closes October 15, 2011

Loudoun Education Foundation Future Educator Scholarship • Applicant must attend a four-year college or university preparing for a career in education. • An interest in becoming an educator and returning to seek employment with Loudoun County Public Schools. • Extra-curricular and community activities that show an interest in and commitment to teaching.

  32. LOUDOUN S o c c e r Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in Loudoun Soccer as a player, volunteer, coach and/or referee. Application must be mailed to Loudoun Soccer by April 18, 2012

  33. Loudoun Valley Community Center Scholarship For a student who attended the Loudoun Valley Community Center’s preschool, daycare and/or after-kindergarten programs Continuing education as a full-time student Minimum GPA of 3.0 Essay Required Application deadline: May 1, 2012

  34. Stephen N. Malick Memorial Scholarship This Scholarship was created to honor the memory of Stephen Malick. He was a 1970 graduate of Loudoun County High School where he excelled as a basketball player. He was a dedicated volunteer of the community having coached youth sports for many years. He was a shining example to all. CRITERIA: Graduating senior from a high school in Loudoun County 2.0 GPA or better Must have participated in high school sports Essay Required A $5,0000 scholarship will be awarded in increments of $1,250 for four (4) years student must be in good standing and have no breaks in secondary education. Application is due April 8th

  35. Master Singers of Virginia Scholarship Applicant’s planned field of study must relate to vocal music and may include vocal performance, choral conducting, or choral music education. Letters of recommendation from music/choral teachers will be considered. Applications are due April 8, 2012

  36. Northern Virginia Urban League For African-American seniors in Northern Virginia graduating in 2012 Criteria: 2.5 GPA, community activities and leadership skills, service to school, three letters of recommendation, transcript, photograph and essay.   37. The Pamplin Leader is a one-year merit-based $1,000 tuition scholarship. The scholarship will be presented annually to one student from each public high school in Virginia who has applied to Virginia Tech, is admitted and accepts the offer of admission. Pamplin Leaders must have a record of outstanding academic achievement that is balanced with a commitment to community service and leadership experience. Must be a senior enrolled at a Virginia public high school who is planning to attend Virginia Tech. Must have a 3.75 overall GPA and/or be ranked in the top ten percent of his/her class. The Pamplin Leader Award is open to students in all majors. Students can complete an application individually, but all applications must be collected, signed and certified by the guidance counselor of each high school. Each school will collect all the applications, consider them and then forward their top three choices. Applications due online by March 1, 2012

  39. The Virginia Junior Chamber International Senate (VAJCI Senate) The VAJCI offers the future leaders of America an opportunity to earn scholarship money for the pursuit of higher education. The form may be filled out on-line but applicants MUST print, sign and mail a copy to the address provided.   40. This Scholarship is available to a senior whose parents are first responders who work or volunteer for Loudoun County Fire and Rescue, Sheriff’s Office or any town police departments with in Loudoun County The deadline date is April 1, 2012

Virginia Tech Alumni Association – Loudoun Chapter Scholarship Must be a senior enrolled at a Virginia public high school Must be planning to attend Virginia Tech Must have financial need An interview with the committee may be required.   42. Virginia Mayflower Society Scholarship Applicants must be a high school senior, a college undergrad, or a graduated student under the age of 26 enrolled in an accredited institution. Applicant must be a “B” student Applicant must be sponsored by a member of the Society. Applications are due March 15, 2012.

  43. Volunteer Loudoun – Student Volunteer Scholarship Applicant must demonstrate contributions to the Loudoun County community through volunteer service.
