  5. Kindergarten Program • Academic Instruction • Fine & Gross Motor Development • Exposure to Extra Curricular Areas- “Specials” • Social and Emotional Development • These components are in both the half day and full day programs. (The full day program receives more time in each area.)

Additional Programs & Services District • Reading Specialist – Grades K-5 • Breakfast & Lunch Programs- • (Free and Reduced services available for individuals who qualify.) • Counselors and Social Workers • Special Education Programs Speech and Language Therapy Resource Room • Hearing Impaired Center Program Greenwood – Gr. Assessment • Assessment drives our instruction. • Formal assessments include tests, short answer questions; multiple choice questions; true and false questions • Informal assessments include group or individual projects, journal writing, oral discussions, and keeping notes or checklists on individual children.

  9. Kindergarten Screener • Lakeview will be administering a free kindergarten screener to all incoming students. • Parents/Guardians will be contacted to schedule a time in early May for their child to be assessed. • The assessment will provide us with information on the child to help us design instruction that is targeted to their child’s needs. • The results will also inform parents what skills need to be worked on over the summer.

  10. SPECIAL CLASSES • Lakeview Currently Has 5 Special Classes, which are: • Physical Education (gym) 45 minutes • Library Circulation 45 minutes • Art 45 minutes • Health 45 minutes • Music 45 minutes

  11. Kindergarten Report Cards • Our kindergarten students are assessed in the following areas: reading, mathematics, oral language, handwriting, characteristics of successful learners, fine motor development, science and social studies.

Technology • Types of Technology • Phones in Classrooms • TVs in Classrooms • Computers • Laptops/Netbooks • Alpha Smarts • Talking Dictionaries • Elmos • Projectors • Cameras • Distance Learning Equip./Virtual Field Trips • Mobile Broadcast Carts • Security Cameras and Secure Entrances • $800,000 in technology purchases this year alone!

Volunteers Work in Classroom Centers Assistteachers with copying/laminating/projects Chaperone Field Trips/ Class Celebrations Serve on B-SIC- School Improvement Committee & District Committees Girl Scout and Boy Scout Leaders Sponsor After School Clubs PTO – Family Activities and Fundraising

Kidz Korner Program • Lakeview offers Kidz Korner, latch key programs; • BEFORE THE START OF SCHOOL • END OF THE SCHOOL DAY • Kidz Korner fees include an hourly rate plus a one time only materials fee • Kidz Korner is available on full and half days • Parents may get necessary Kidz Korner forms from their school’s office

  15. Enrollment Process • Turn in Kdg. Pre-Registration Form • Attend Bldg. Round-Up Session • Complete Registration Packet • Child is Given the Kdg. Screener in May • Receive Notification of Placement • External School of Choice Students will not be placed until their registration packet is completed.
