    13. Standing Research Committee On September 2006, the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Program's (NATSAP) Executive Board invited a group of researchers and executives from a handful of NATSAP programs to participate in a research summit with the purpose of devising a solid plan for the formation of a NATSAP-wide research initiative. The culmination of this meeting brought about the appointment of the NATSAP Standing Research Committee, which has since been regularly meeting to develop a research and evaluation initiative. The NATSAP Research committee members: John Santa, Ph.D. - Committee Co-Chair, Montana Academy Michael Merchant - Committee Co-Chair, ANASAZI Foundation Ellen Behrens, Ph.D., Canyon Research and Consulting Rob Cooley, Ph.D., Catherine Freer Wilderness Therapy Expeditions Mike Gass, Ph.D., University of New Hampshire Kyle Gillette, Ph.D., Solstice RTC Matt Hoag, Ph.D., Second Nature Entrada Pam McCollam, Ph.D., New Haven RTC Beverly Richard, MSW, Three Springs Amy Simpson, Ph.D., Montana Academy

    14. Research Coordinator Dr. Michael Gass, Ph.D. University of New Hampshire Department of Kinesiology Develop and manage a data collection network designed to allow for maximum participation by NATSAP member programs. A deidentified aggregate database will be developed. The plan is for the majority of the network's data gathering to be conducted through a web-based application provided by www.carepaths.com.

    15. Research Aims Collect aggregate outcome information that will help NATSAP communicate the nature and quality of member programs’ work to stake holders. Allow programs access to their own data for purposes of quality improvement and treatment planning Organize the data into an archival database that can be accessible for approved additional research projects

    16. Research Protocol The NATSAP Research and Evaluation Network will collect programmatic, client background/demographic information as well as standardized psycho-social assessment. The NATSAP Research and Evaluation Network will collect individual client and client-family demographic data through the use of NATSAP-specific questionnaires. In addition to age and gender, these forms will ask clients and their parents and/or guardians to address additional issues such as substance abuse, school performance, and investment in their work with the program. In addition to these customized measures, the project will also utilize both the Auchenbach System of Empirically Based Assessments (ASEBA) as well as the Outcome Questionnaire Family of Instruments (OQ).

    18. Directory NATSAP publishes an annual Directory of our members, which is mailed to over 10,000 professionals in the mental and behavioral health field. In addition the program descriptions of each member contained in the directory is posted on the NATSAP website (www.natsap.org) Note: NATSAP does not do referrals or placements to our members.
