  8. The School of Environment, Education & Development (SEED) SEED is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in both research and teaching. Our core aim is to understand, and improve the uneven relationships between society, economy, and the environment. Planning & Environmental Management Initiated in 2007, we are one of the longest established and largest professionally recognised planning schools in the UK; renowned internationally for excellent teaching at all levels and for the high quality of our research. A wide range of students from different nationalities and academic backgrounds choose to pursue their planning studies in the uniquely inter-disciplinary environment of our school, which is supported by our four renowned research centres: the Centre for Urban Regional Ecology (CURE), the Centre for Urban Policy Studies (CUPS), the Global Urban Research Centre (GURC),and the Manchester Architecture Research Centre (MARC). We have strong professional links with planners, urban development professionals and environmental managers. These links with practitioners benefit our students in many ways, including a high calibre of visiting speakers and impressive networking opportunities, exciting possibilities for placements and client based studies, and strong links for possible employment.

This 3+1/4+1 project • A project of collaboration between two top universities in China and the UK • RUC students who have successfully completed the third year or the fourth year of the Bachelor programmes at School of Business, School of Information, and School of Environment plus any additional requirements to a standard acceptable to the University of Manchester would be eligible for entry into the Masters programmes provided by SEED. • Students of RUC admitted to SEED’s Programme shall, subject to completing the programme in accordance with the examination rules of SEED, graduate with the degree of Masters from the University of Manchester. The degrees are exactly the same as those admitted in regular way. RUC decides its rules for it to award students of this 3+1 project the Bachelor degrees.

  13. Qualifications for Entry • Students will be considered on a case-by-case basis, according to their individual merits • Typically one should have obtained the following qualifications: • TOEFL - Internet based score of 88 or more overall; with a score of 22 in the writing and 22 in the other subsections; or score of 6.5 or more Overall with a 6.0 in writing and 6 in the other subsections. (Students not yet achieved the language condition may be qualified for entry after training in The University of Manchester pre -sessional language programme.) • 75% average in first 5 semesters for year-three students and 7 semesters for the year-four graduates, as verified by RUC • Students will be recommended for entry to the Programme by their school in RUC based on their academic performance. You do not need to submit personal statement and individual references.

  14. Tuition fee and other costs • annual overseas student tuition fees, discounted by 10% • For 2014/2015 entry, the fee is about 14,000-16,300 GBP (before 10% discount) • The fee covers a 1-2 weeks fieldtrip. Different MSc programmes have different arrangement, e.g. MSc MIS students will go to Malta for 10 days in January. • Accommodation is offered by the University, and also available in the market. The cost is about 80-130 GBP/Week
