An emotional support animal (ESA) is a person's pet that has been approved by a person's licensed therapist and psychologist, or doctor (any licensed mental health professional). The animal is a part of the treatment program for this person and is planned to bring comfort and contract the negative symptoms of the person's emotional/psychological disability.
