  2. Amazon Web Services Data Migration Service helps in migrating databases from any target source to AWS speedily and securely. During the process, the source database remains fully functional and hence there is no break in service or downtime. All databases are good for migrating data to and fro with AWS Data Migration Service. DMS AWSis optimized for both homogenous migration like Oracle to Oracle and heterogeneous migrations between various database platforms like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle to Amazon Aurora. It also assists in continually replicating data with high availability to consolidate databases into a data warehouse of petabyte-scale by streaming data to Amazon S3 and Amazon Redshift. DMS AWSis free for six months for users migrating data to Amazon Redshift, Amazon Aurora, Amazon DynamoDB, or Amazon Document DB.

Benefits of DMS AWS There are several benefits of AWS Data Migration Service. · Easy to use – With DMS AWS, there is no need for installing additional drivers or applications and changes to the source database are also not required. Database migration can be started on the AWS Management Console with just a few clicks. DMS manages the intricacies of data migration automatically and replicates data in the source database.

  4. · No downtime – During migration, changes to data at the source are continuously replicated to the target. This ensures that the source database remains functional during migration. After the process is completed, the source and the target database remain synchronized until such time the switchover is done as per convenience. · Affordability – DMS AWSis a low-cost service and payment is only for the volume of computing or storage resources used. The cost of migrating a terabyte-sized database is just about $3. This is true for both homogeneous and heterogeneous migrations of supported databases. · Supports commonly used databases – DMS AWS supports the most widely-used databases in open-source or commercial applications. For example, homogeneous migration is Oracle to Oracle, and heterogeneous migration is Oracle to Amazon Aurora. It can also move data between text-based targets, SQL, and NoSQL. · Quick setup – A migration activity can be started within minutes in the AWS Management Console. Only the parameters have to be defined in the DMS AWSto initiate the migration and include setting up connections to the source as well as the target databases and selecting the replication instance. After this task is done, the same activity can be used for test runs before the actual migration begins. · Dependability – DMS AWS continually tracks source and target databases, replication instance, and network connectivity and takes corrective action whenever required during migration. If interrupted midway, it auto starts the process and continues from where it was stopped. Multi-AZ options ensure high-availability for database migration and continuous data replication by enabling redundant instances. Apart from these benefits, AWS Database Migration Service can also be used to consolidate various source databases into a single target database.
