  2. THE VYSOČINA REGION • The Bohemian-Moravian Highlands forms the border between Bohemia and Moravia. • The Vysočina Region is famous for its historical monuments and beautiful countryside. • There are hills, valleys, forests, streams and rivers.

  5. History • Settlement in Brod has been documented as far back as the 12th century. • Brod = Ford (easy passage to cross the river) • Development name – Brod, Smilův Brod, Německý (Deutsch) Brod, Havlíčkův Brod

  10. Havlíček's house • New-Gothic style • It's connected with life of K.H.Borovský • Here he was arrested and taken to exile • Nowadays is here Havlíček's Museum

  11. Koudela's fountain • Fountain with statue of Triton • Legend: Baker Koudela kept baking small rolls even though he was punished several time. Finally, to avoid a death penalty he promised to build a fountain for the town.
