  1. Welcome to The Friends of Lockyer’s

  2. Who are The Friends? We are a group of parents and staff . As parents of children in the school, you automatically join The Friends. You do not have to join the committee, but as the old saying goes ‘many hands make light work’! If each parent was able to offer half an hour of time we would only need to ask once during your time as a parent! What do The Friends do? We organise fund-raising events such as Christmas and Summer Fairs, Family Quiz Nights and Fashion Shows to raise money for the school. The funds we raise are vital for the school and directly benefit your children.

  3. Things that Friends’ Funds have been spent on in the last year:- • Noticeboards for hall: £730 • Microscopes for Science: £200 • English Department: £546 • Multi Binder for resource room: £50 • Health Day: £62 • Reward Vouchers: £540 • PE Equipment: £400 • Life Education Van for Years 5 & 6: £280 • Camcorders for IT: £386 • Gemma's Wardrobe for Year 8: £254 • Minibus: £1200 • Total £4648 I’m sure you will agree that this is a substantial amount of money and the spend items really enhance the learning experience for all of the children.

  4. Reasons why you should pledge to join the committee • Funds raised make a huge difference to the learning of your children • The more volunteers we have, the less work for individuals • Meet new people and make new friends • Learn new skills • Keep in touch with what’s happening at school • Give something back to your community • Volunteering is good for your soul! • Please leave your details with me • Thank you for listening
