  3. Anatomy • Basic anatomy of the musculatoryand respiratory systems. • How aging and disease affect them.

  4. This year, anatomy could be performed on a cadaver!

  5. Awesome Aquifers • Construct an aquifer on site using simple materials. • Know groundwater concepts (written test)

  6. Battery Buggy • Construct an electrical vehicle to travel a specified distance AND stop on a dime! In this case, stop on a buck!

  7. Bottle Rocket • Bottle must stay aloft for the longest time. Are they praying for a good launch?

  8. Can’t Judge a Powder • Analyze and describe the characteristics of a mystery powder. • Answer a series of questions based on only their collected data.

  9. Compute This • Find, collect, and sort data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website. • Present data using computer software Evil Mac

  10. Crimebusters • Use various CSI techniques, evidence collection, and tests to solve a scenario crime.

  11. Disease Detectives • Basic understanding of disease, injury, health, and disability in people with a focus on food borne illnesses.

  12. Dynamic Planet • Written test and process skills related to Earth’s Fresh Waters

  13. Ecology • Questions about the ecology and adaptations of the North American Biomes

  14. Experimental Design • Design, conduct, and report the findings of an experiment on-site

  15. Fossils • Station-based test on identification of fossils and knowledge of the organisms.

  16. Junkyard Challenge • Construct a device on-site to solve an engineering challenge

  17. Meteorology • Question-based test on Storms and Weather

  18. Metric Mastery • Estimation and measurement of all things metric.

  19. Microbe Mission • Answer questions, solve problems, and analyze data about microbes.

  20. Mystery Architecture • Engineer a device to be tested using only what is given you in the BAG OF MYSTERY!

  21. Optics-Out of Sight • Activities and questions related to geometric and physical optics.

  22. Ornithology • Knowledge about North American birds

  23. Pentathlon • Event that mixes academic knowledge with quick physical tests.

  24. Road Scholar • Questions based on map-reading and creating skills.

  25. Shock Value • Activities to show understanding of electricity, magnetism, and electric motors.

  26. Solar System • Knowledge about our own solar system from the Sun to the Oort cloud

  27. Storm the Castle • Design, build, calibrate a device to launch a projectile a specified distance.

  28. Towers • Design and build the most efficient tower.

  29. Write It Do It • One student writes the description of an object and the other student must build it… using only the written instructions.
