  3. Before You Start! Make sure you have: 1. A valid email address2. A new MathXL Student Access Kit The MathXL Registration process will not work without these two items.

  4. Before You Start! Most of the MathXL Registration screens will have the following features . . . . . . A Help button in case you need to get help while online . . . . . . . A Progress Indicator to show how far you are in the Registration process. . . . A Back and a Next button so you can move between screens . . .

  5. Registration Step 1 Start Internet Explorer and enter www.mathxl.com in the address bar

  6. Registration Step 2 Click the Register button.

  7. Registration Step 3 Open your Student Access Kit and pull open the Student Access Code tab.You will use this code in the next step.

  8. Registration Step 4 Enter your Access Code in the registration boxes.You can use the tab key to move from box to box. Click the Next button after you have entered your Access Code.

  9. Registration Step 5 Enter your contact information.ELAC’s Zip Code is 91754.Click the Next button to go to the next screen.

  10. Registration Step 6a Choose East Los Angeles College as your Academic Institution.First, click the upside down triangle to open the Institution Name list.

  11. Registration Step 6b Then, scroll down and find East Los Angeles College.

  12. Registration Step 6c Finally, click on East Los Angeles College and click the Next button.

  13. Registration Step 7 Create a unique Login Name and Password that you will use for MathXL.Make sure that both the Login Name and Password are at least 4 characters long.Do not use any spaces in the Login or Password. Next, select a question from the list and type in an answer.

  14. Registration Step 8a You are almost done!Read the License Agreement by clicking on the link. Then, click the I Agree box.

  15. Registration Step 8b Make sure all of your information is correct by looking at the Progress Indicator. If you need to change something, you can click the Back button to go to a previous screen. If everything is correct, click the Next button only once to send the information.

Registration Step 9 You have finished the registration process!MathXL will display this screen after it accepts your information.Print this page to get a copy of your Login Name and Password.You will also be sent a confirmation email that contains your Login, Password, and other MathXL account information. *** MathXL may ask you to enter another Login/Password combination if someone else is currently using it. ***

  18. MathXL Login Step 1 Start Internet Explorer and enter www.mathxl.com in the address bar

  19. MathXL Login Step 2 Enter your MathXL Login Name and Password. Then, click the Login button.

  20. MathXL Login Step 3 Click the Enter MathXL button.

  22. Select a Course This screen will appear after you log into MathXL for the first time.You will also use this screen when you want to change instructors or courses.

  23. Select a Course Step 1a Click the upside down triangle to expand the School list.

  24. Select a Course Step 1b Scroll down the list until you get to the second East Los Angeles College.

  25. Select a Course Step 1c Click on the second East Los Angeles College.

  26. Select a Course Step 2a Click the upside down triangle to expand the Instructor/Course list.

  27. Select a Course Step 2b Scroll down the list to find your instructor.

  28. Select a Course Step 2c Click on your instructor’s name.

  29. Select a Course Step 3 Click the Submit button.

  30. Select a Course Step 4 MathXL will display this screen (or a portion of it) after you click the Submit button. Do not install or test for plug-ins when you are using the N2 Building computers. Just close the browser window by clicking on the X when you are in N2.

  32. Select a Test Step 1 Different instructors will have different things for you to do in MathXL, however, most will assign tests. Click the Take a Test button on the navbar or click the Take a Test area on the page to activate the Test screen.

  33. Select a Test Step 2 Instructor assigned tests will appear at the top of the list.Click on the test name to start a test. If a test is listed but won’t start the instructor may have put an expiration date on the test.Contact your instructor about expired tests.

  34. Select a Test Step 3 MathXL sample tests are listed below instructor tests.These are also started by clicking on the test name.

  35. Select a Test Step 4 Your Student Access Kit has a reference card that lists guidelines for entering test answers.The reference card also shows how to enter special math symbols in your answers.

  36. Select a Test Step 5 Click Log Out when you are finished using MathXL.
