16. STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and occupational preparation. Events are divided into three categories: Leadership - these allow FCCLA members to expand on what they are doing in the classroom by providing service to their communities, strengthening their own local chapters, and implementing national programs.

17. Foundational - events that apply content learned in Family & Consumer Sciences classes. • Career Preparation- allow for a hands-on demonstration of career and technical skills learned in Family & Consumer Sciences courses as they apply to future employment in one of our occupational areas.

18. STOP the Violence—StudentsTaking on Prevention empowers youth with attitudes, skills, and resources to recognize, report, and reduce youth violence. A peer-to-peer outreach initiative that empowers young people to RECOGNIZE REPORT REDUCE the potential for youth violence.

20. Here’s an opportunity to live in Japan next summer with a Japanese host family. You can be one of 17 FCCLA members selected to experience a Japanese tea ceremony, traditional Japanese foods, or climb up Mount Fuji with a Japanese brother or sister.
