The goal of ESL summer schoolprogramming is focused content area support for English Learners, prioritizing middle school and high school students.
In grade five, Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading will be delivered collaboratively using elementary and ESL teaching partnerships. Fifth grade was chosen in order to provide additional support at a critical transition time, and to continue the co-teaching model that students received in 4th grade summer school 2012.
Elementary/Middle 5th grade co-teaching in science/literacy at selected sites: • Andersen (1) • Folwell (1) • HIA (1) • NEMS (2) • NSJ (2) • Ramsey (2) • Sullivan (1-2)
High School • WIDA Levels 1-3 students • Washburn HS site • ELD, Sheltered Biology, Sheltered Algebra • Sheltered classes: • Algebra taught by math-certified teacher on site; students simultaneous registered in CR Int. Algebra • Biology taught by HS ESL teacher/Science co-teacher on site; students simultaneous registered in CR Biology • Pilot of Work/Study through MCE/21st Century Grant (10 participants)
Monday – Thursday • K-8th June 17- July 25 • 9th – 12th June 17- July 11
