  2. Evaluate information on the website by using these six criteria: • 1. Authorship on the text of page • 2.Publishing Body / where does it reside? • 3. Point of View/ or being bias • 4. Referral to /knowledge of the literature • 5. Accuracy or the verifiability of details Jack Rioux

  3. Looking at Information • Go with your true instinct/belief • something doesn’t really sound right • When you’re in doubt, always doubt • Look for citations in the text • Ignore pictures which are eye-catchers Jack Rioux

  4. Use reliable websites such as Google • Keep the search as simple as possible • Decide if the topic is hard to research • Try different search engines and keywords • Bookmark and Stockpile Possible Good Content. • Filter and Validate the Content. Jack Rioux

  5. Other Suggestions when researching information online • Be suspicious of personal web pages, • Commercial pages that have amateurish presentation. • Quote and Cite the Content. When needed • Use databases which are more reliable • Databases can be easier to use Jack Rioux

  6. Information on the Internet is: • decentralized - thousands of networks are involved • disorganized - no central index/ database exists • dynamic - changing every minute/ every day • expanding rapidly every single year online • not subject to pre-publication checks/ balances • not always authentic or accurate Jack Rioux
