Dominance and Dihybrid Cross

Dominance and Dihybrid Cross. Incomplete Dominance. Heterozygous phenotype (trait expressed) is somewhere in between the two homozygous phenotypes. Genes mix EX: Red rose x White rose = Pink rose. Codominance. Both alleles contribute to the phenotype (traits expressed) You see both traits

  1. Dominance and Dihybrid Cross

  2. Incomplete Dominance • Heterozygous phenotype (trait expressed) is somewhere in between the two homozygous phenotypes. • Genes mix • EX: Red rose x White rose = Pink rose

  3. Codominance • Both alleles contribute to the phenotype (traits expressed) • You see both traits • Ex: Zorse Eclyse; Fancy rats; Calico cats

  4. Independent Assortment • Alleles for one trait segregate independently of those for a different trait.

  5. Dihybrid Cross • Two traits passed from one generation to the next • First Outside Inside Last • (B+b)(T+t) = BT+Bt+bT+bt • How many gametes? 4
