  2. Latin: Bene Meaning “well or good”

  3. Benevolent Adjective—kindly; favorable towards Sentence: A benevolent neighbor put the runaway boy up for the night. Syn. humane Ant. Cold-hearted

  4. Benign Adjective—causing no harm Sentence: Police found the supposedly deadly substance to be instead benign. Ant. deadly

  5. Benefactor Noun—a person who gives friendly aid Sentence: When the artist began to paint in a strange, new style, her benefactor pulled all financial support.

  6. Latin: Cord Meaning “heart”

  7. Accord Noun—Sameness in opinion; agreement. Sentence: Everyone was in accord on the need for a budget, but no one could decide how to spend the money. Syn. harmony ant. strife

  8. Discord Noun—lack of agreement; disharmony Sentence: The teams pretended to be good sports, but the discord between them was apparent. Syn. disunity
